Equipment

  • Large pot for boiling pasta
  • Colander
  • Large pan or skillet
  • Wooden spoon
  • Grater for Parmesan cheese

Materials

  • Ditalini pasta 8 oz.
  • Olive oil 2 tbsp.
  • Garlic 2 cloves, minced
  • Tomato sauce 1 cup
  • Parmesan cheese 1/2 cup, grated
  • Fresh basil 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • Add the Ditalini pasta and cook according to the package instructions (about 8-10 minutes) until al dente.
  • Drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.
  • In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Pour in the tomato sauce and stir well. Allow the sauce to simmer for 3-4 minutes, letting the flavors meld together.
  • Add the cooked Ditalini pasta to the sauce, stirring to coat the pasta evenly.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the freshly chopped basil.
  • Serve the pasta in bowls, and top with freshly grated Parmesan cheese for added flavor.

Notes

For added protein, try incorporating cooked chicken, shrimp, or Italian sausage into the dish.
Feel free to swap the tomato sauce for pesto for a different flavor profile.
For a heartier dish, serve the Ditalini pasta with a side of garlic bread or a fresh salad.
If you prefer a lighter sauce, use a splash of vegetable broth instead of tomato sauce.
