Equipment

  • Microwave-safe bowl or double boiler
  • Parchment paper or wax paper
  • Small bowl for optional toppings (like sprinkles or crushed nuts)
  • Fork or skewer for dipping strawberries
  • Tray or plate for setting strawberries to cool

Materials

  • 12-15 fresh strawberries medium to large size
  • 1 cup chocolate dark, milk, or white
  • Optional toppings sprinkles, chopped nuts, crushed candy, or coconut flakes

Instructions

Prepare the strawberries:

  • Wash the strawberries thoroughly and gently pat them dry with a paper towel. Make sure they are free of moisture, as water can cause the chocolate to seize.

Melt the chocolate:

  • Break or chop your chosen chocolate into small, even pieces. Use a microwave-safe bowl or a double boiler to melt the chocolate. If using a microwave, heat the chocolate in 20-30 second intervals, stirring in between to prevent burning. If using a double boiler, place the chocolate in the top part of the boiler and stir occasionally until fully melted.

Dip the strawberries:

  • Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted chocolate. You can dip it halfway, two-thirds, or entirely, depending on your preference. Gently swirl the strawberry in the chocolate to cover it evenly.

Add optional toppings:

  • If desired, dip the freshly dipped chocolate strawberry into a bowl of toppings like sprinkles, chopped nuts, or coconut flakes for added texture and flavor.

Cool the strawberries:

  • Place the dipped strawberries on a parchment-lined tray or plate. Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes. If you're in a rush, you can place the tray in the fridge to speed up the process.

Serve:

  • Once the chocolate has hardened, your chocolate dipped strawberries are ready to be served! Enjoy them fresh or store them properly for later.

Notes

NOTES:
Ensure that the strawberries are completely dry before dipping them to avoid chocolate slipping off.
You can store chocolate dipped strawberries in the fridge for up to 24 hours, but for the best texture and flavor, they should be eaten within the same day.
If you prefer a smoother chocolate coating, consider using chocolate specifically labeled for dipping, such as couverture chocolate.
For an extra touch, drizzle some contrasting chocolate over the dipped strawberries for a decorative finish.
